Peas and Crayons

Well guys, I completely forgot about this fabulous blog event! I always go to bed Monday night thinking “Okay, tomorrow I have to take pictures of everything I eat”. But this time, the thought never occurred to me again until Tuesday evening, right before dinner. So instead of cataloging a day of eats, I’m going to show you some random pictures of some meals I’ve eaten lately as well as some super delicious recipes I’ve concocted that will be posted in the next few weeks :) Hope you all don’t hate me too much by the end of this!

raw banana granola. This was my first big success with the dehydrator besides soaking and dehydrating nuts lol. Eaten here with berries, chopped plum and almond milk.

lots of veggies using this new preparation I discovered. It’s raw, but makes your veggies taste and feel like they’ve been blanched or lightly steamed! Broccoli is my favourite so far.

Update: raw "blanched" veggies how-to!

raw strawberry cream cake. Made it for my mom’s birthday! Completely kept within the rules for the first 2 weeks of my cleanse and tasted PHENOMENAL!

This was actually my dinner last night: chipotle avocado sauce over kelp noodles. Having never tried kelp noodles before, I’d say this turned out really well.

Also eaten recently: raw baby carrot and bell peppers with cashew tomato dip, zucchini noodles with sauce, plums, pears and apples galore, romaine salads, raw buckwheat burgers, chia puddings, etc. Pretty awesome food lately :)

That’s all for today! Thanks again to Jenn at Peas and Crayons for hosting WIAW. See you all soon!

    • Aww you are so cute. I know- with foods this great, who needs anything more? Although truth be told I have been craving some more cooked things recently like brown rice pasta, oatmeal and baked potatoes. I think I will find a nice balance when the cleanse is over :)

  1. Your robot is too cool!

Raw cakes are my favourite… they taste so rich and decadent it’s hard to believe they are good for you, right?

    • Hehe my robot is probably my favourite kitchen tool/dish (and I have a lot of them!).

So true! That’s probably my favourite thing about raw desserts- decadence WITH whole food ingredients, nutrients and fiber!

  2. Everything in this post looks so amazing! Are you planning on sharing the recipe for the raw banana granola- it looks incredible…seriously I need to come live with you and learn how to eat raw like this!

    • I totally am planning on sharing it don’t you worry :) it surprised me with how good it was! Definitely equal to baked versions with all those lovely nutrients retained.

Come stay anytime :) we would have quite the feast!

  3. I love your tea infuser! Sometimes blogs have such beautiful dishes I wonder where they get them. And can you post the recipe for the strawberry cream cake? PLEASE???

  4. OMG so many yummy things in this post, it’s a bit overwhelming ;) First of all, that robot tea infuser is AMAZING! So freaking cute, I love it!!

Haha now onto your lovely food. Love the classic strawberry and mango fruit salad. Delicious and so good for you! LOOOOOOOVe avocado, the frozen “yogurt” looks really great and the cheesecake is beautiful. Did you dehydrate the broccoli? I really need to figure out where to put a dehydrator lol. I feel like my life will be so much better with a dehydrator in it! ;)

    • Such lovely comments :) I adore my robot, he lets little bits of the leaves through but I forgive him ;)

For the broccoli I did dehydrate it but it’s actually not crucial as long as you dont’ mind eating it really cold. I’ll post the how to soon :)

Ya the dehydrators amazing. When I move I’ll probably have to keep it in my bedroom, it does take a load of space!

      Have a great day!

  5. oh i SUPER like your raw meals! look amazing. i am in love with green smoothies at the moment! and just discovered that they taste BEST with homemade raw almond milk!
