Hello my fellow foodies!
Thank you all for your words of congrats and encouragement on my move to a self-hosted blog! It was daunting and frustrating and I'm still trying to figure out some bugs, but overall I'm really happy with it. I can't wait to play around with the design at some point!
Now, I know I owe you all a recipe and don’t worry- one is coming ;) But first, I’m a little late on revealing a couple foodie swaps I participated in last month! I just have to write this post now because the lovely ladies who sent me my packages put together a stellar bunch of goodies.
First off, the Foodie Pen Pal Swap!
For this swap I sent my package to Daneen @ Runner and a Foodie. So pop on over there to see what I sent her!
I got my package from Devon @ deli-cute-essen. She did a phenomenal job picking out treats for me that were all vegan and gluten-free.
she certainly lived up to her blog’s name with this wrapping!
In my goodie box were:
-
Some Mary’s Crackers Ginger Snap Cookies- I’ve always wanted to try these and I really enjoyed them. Cookies you can feel good about eating :)
-
Prana Maple Almonds- she warned me these were addictive and holy man, were they ever. I just kept going back!
-
Santa Cruz Organic Root Beet- I don’t drink soda, like ever, but this root beer was amazing and all organic! It was even clear in colour, so none of that artificial colouring. It was such a nice treat.
-
Some organic vegetarian sour gummies- sour keys were one of my favourite candies as a kid
-
Chime’s Ginger Chews in the original and mint flavour- I love the peanut butter ones, so trying these flavours was great! They really help with indigestion!
-
WiTEAy Wiz Tea- this was from a local shop in Montreal and was a chamomile, sage, nettle, peppermint, lemonbalm and rosemary tea. It is so soothing! I’ll have to find something similar here because I love it.
Thanks so much Devon!
If you’d like to participate in the Foodie Pen Pal program, go to The Lean Green Blog for full info and sign-up sheet!
And now for the Vegan Food Swap, Canadian Edition
I received my package from Sarina @ Earthgiven. I have been following her blog for a while so I was really excited to see what she would send me. She certainly did not disappoint!
In the package was
-
golden pea soup mix- literally all that was in here was peas and spices and it was so easy to make. Made for a very quick and comforting dinner!
-
3 different teas: organic golden green, rooibos chai and three mint. All 3 of these were consumed in the first 2 days after receiving it- I love tea!
-
Herbamere Original seasoning. I had actually never tried these before! I loved it, added so much flavour to my dishes. I think I’ll become a regular purchaser of this.
-
Live on Chocolate Raw Caramel chocolate bar- this was so decadent and rich- you just can’t beat raw, vegan caramel! Plus it was a local product to her and I love getting to try those.
-
homemade raw nacho crackers- these were delicious and made a great snack with some raw hummus. Here's the link to her recipe if you want to make some for yourself!
-
Vega One in Vanilla Chai- I never tried this flavour so it was fun to give it a go. I can never quite tolerate a full serving of Vega in my smoothies so I divided it into 2 smoothies and it added some great flavour and nutrition!
Thanks so much Sarina! I just loved everything.
If you want to participate in the Vegan Food Swap next month, head over to MeShell in Your City for info and sign-up!
Make sure to come back tomorrow for round 2 of Healthy Vegan Fridays! Check out the details here and last week’s blog party here. The first was such a success so I can only hope this will continue to grow.
I promise the next post after HVF will be a recipe, cross my heart.
See you all tomorrow!

I LOVE Herbamere – I have been struggling with the addiction for YEARS ;)
Yay, what fun swap packages! The Ginger Snap cookies and maple almonds look SO GOOD! The ginger chews sound great too and like I mentioned before, I’m looking for easy ginger consumption and those sound awesome! I’ve heard Herbamere is really good and the chocolate caramel bar thing sounds really decadent and delicious! I’m going to have to check out the recipe for those raw nacho crackers too!
Looks like a really great swap month, I hope you enjoy your goodies!!
That is one delicious box my friend :D
Great pics!
Cheers
Choc Chip Uru
Thanks Uru :)
I love seeing what goodies you’ve been sent as you get such different stuff over there than we do, much more of a variety of vegan foods I think. Yum!
It’s funny how different food can be! When I lived across the pond there were a bunch of foods I could get there that I can’t get here any more and I miss them!
Wow! You hit the mother load of goodies! Some fun stuff to eat! Enjoy!
I really did :) they’re almost all gone now!
So glad you liked the package, Gabby. How fun to get two swap boxes a month! Maybe I’ll sign up for the foodie penpal one too.
I posted the recipe for the raw Nacho Crackers:

Enjoy!
Awesome Sarina, thanks! I’ll make sure to update my post with the link! I really did enjoy everything, there’s not much left!
what? you became self hosted? way to go! somehow i all my craziness i missed this fact in your blog posts – or something. i thought i was checking you every day. oh lord who knows.
anyways, a huge step – this is something i’m not brave enough to do. :) i think this means the veggie nook is now more official than my less serious life!
Haha I only mentioned it quickly! I wasn’t anticipating it for too long, happened so suddenly!
It’s funny- I feel like I’ve grown up in the blogger world. Now all I need is a redesign and I’ll feel like a pro ;)
