Life is always better when you have a balance.
A balance between work and play.
Between activity and relaxation.
Between calm and excitement.
Healthy and treats.
Sweet and Salty.
I feel I am starting to perfect many of these, especially the last one. Clearly the most important don’t you think? ;)
This spread was actually inspired by a recipe in Amber’s book Practically Raw for Maple Miso Butter. I was so intrigued by the flavour combination of maple and miso and suspected it would really shine with the creamy and nutty tahini as the back drop.
It’s sweet, salty, mysterious, intriguing, and all around fantastic. It satisfies pretty much every taste you could be craving!
This spread is delicious on toast (try cinnamon raisin! I like Ezekiel), on fruit, or just eaten straight from the jar! This recipe makes a small amount, but you might want to double it, just in case ;)

I’m in love with all three ingredients! I would normally be scared to combine such salty flavors with something as contrastingly sweet as maple syrup. Guess I’ll just have to tey it and see! :)
Thank you Lindsay! It’s definitely a pairing that works! They are such bold flavours on their own, but combining them mellows them out and creates a really seductive taste. I think you’ll love it ;)
oooh that combo sounds just fabulous! you never cease to amaze me, Gabby!! :)
Awww that was so sweet of you Caralyn thank you!!

Hey Heather! It’s beena problem for a few people recently, I don’t know what’s happening :( I haven’t changed anything as far as I know. I’ve left a post in WordPress support so hopefully someone gets back to me soon, because I miss you :) I’m glad you found your way back though!!
Wow, this recipe looks amazing. I really love simple recipes as I’m so limited for time. I’ve got Amber’s book too but I’ve not tried that recipe yet.
Yum!
Thank you Katherine! I never made that butter either, I never had enough coconut butter lying around. But I am definitely satisfied with this version!
This sounds so perfect – and yet it had never occurred to me! It’s definitely all about the balance ;)
So true Kari. I hope you make this and love it!
Ohh my gosh yum. I need you to make this for me!
Hehe I wish I could! But it’s so easy, I hope you try it anyway :)
Oh how funny! Just yesterday I was trying to convince Lisa to add tahini to her maple miso dressing. ALL THE GOOD THINGS.
Indeed!! Indeed!! All of those salty sweetie yummy things!
Right? All the best things, right here :)
Haha I saw that post :) Some tahini would be an awesome addition, but I mean, when is tahini NOT a good addition?
Nice one, Gabby! Add a bit more miso, some lemon juice and chili peppers and you have one of my favourite dressings: http://tastespace.wordpress.com/2012/09/17/macro-veggie-and-tempeh-bowl-with-miso-tahini-sauce-aux-vivres-copy-cat/
Wow tha dressing sounds amazing Janet! So many of my favourite things all in one dressing! Will definitely try this!
Wow, that really is so brilliantly simple. I’ll have to whip this up for lunch and give it a try! Thanks for sharing the secret formula. ;)
Thank you Hannah! I really hope you like it!
I want to be shoving that in my face right now. Seriously. It sounds like such an interesting and delicious combination! I really need to buy some tahini, I don’t know why I haven’t in so long! It looks so perfect on that raisin bread, yum! Can’t wait to see the recipe for that wrap, it looks DELICIOUS!! Nice recipe as always :)
It’s so delicious Sarah, seriously it’s so good! When you are dont your candida cleanse you must try it :) Yes tahini is a spantry staple here, get on that one!
I make this spread too, but with a totally different ratio – approximately equal amounts of tahini and miso and just a bit of maple to sweeten it. I’m going to try your variety next. Love this flavor combo!
Wow your version must be so intense, but it sounds delicious! I hope you like this ratio!
This is such an interesting combo of flavors, and it makes me mad that I cannot eat soy because of my medicine. :( there are so many miso recipes I want to try.
Aww that really sucks! I wonder if a little soy sauce/Bragg’s/tamari could yield a similar salty/sweet flavour? Also, investigate chickpea miso…I know it’s out there although I have never bought it myself!
